Everything you have to see in Cartagena and the treasures of the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology

This two-hour guided tour offers an introduction to Cartagena through its historic streets and its deep connection to the sea, combining a walking tour of the old town with entry to the Museo Nacional de Arqueología Subacuática ARQUA.

We will begin with a stroll through the historic centre, interpreting a city shaped by more than two thousand years of history, from its origins as Carthago Nova to its role as a key Mediterranean port.

The visit continues at ARQUA, a leading museum dedicated to underwater archaeology. Its exhibition explores maritime history, navigation and trade through objects recovered from the seabed, offering insight into centuries of seafaring activity.

One of its main highlights is the treasure of the frigate Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, whose coins and artefacts illustrate global trade in the 18th century and the importance of protecting submerged heritage. But surely the most famous piece is the original Phoenician ship from the 7th century BC, one of the oldest vessels that can be found anywhere in the world.

This small group tour is led by an official licensed guide specialised in history and heritage, ensuring a rigorous and engaging experience.
