A panoramic view of Cartagena including the museum of its ancient theater.

This two-hour guided tour offers a comprehensive introduction to Cartagena’s rich history, combining a walking tour of the historic centre with a visit to the Roman Theatre Museum, the most visited museum in the city and in the entire Region of Murcia.

Founded by the Carthaginians and later developed as an important Roman colony, Cartagena preserves an exceptional archaeological legacy. During the walking tour, we will explore the main squares and streets of the old town, discovering the city’s Roman, military and Modernist heritage, as well as its close connection to the Mediterranean and the Spanish Navy.

The highlight of the visit is the Roman Theatre Museum, designed by architect Rafael Moneo, which guides visitors through a carefully curated exhibition of archaeological remains before leading to the spectacular Roman Theatre itself. Built in the 1st century BC during the reign of Emperor Augustus, this monument is one of the finest examples of Roman architecture in Spain.

This small group tour is led by an official licensed tourist guide, a history graduate and specialist in historical heritage, ensuring a rigorous, engaging and culturally enriching experience in Cartagena.
